NEW BEANZ RESOURCE
BEANZ L1 Science 1.2 context – Predator Free 2050
In this standard ākonga will undertake investigations within one identified context (Predator Free 2050), using three different approaches. Each investigative approach will explore a question that relates to Predator Free 2050.
- Exploring and observing – Question: What introduced mammals are in our forest/local area/school?
- Fair testing - Question: Which food do rats/mice prefer?
- Pattern seeking – Question: Does predator control work to increase the numbers of NZ native species?
Ākonga will gather data in each investigation. Gathered data includes evidence that can either be quantitative or qualitative. Quantitative data can be measurements, tallies, statistics, or sample surveys. Qualitative data can be photos, annotated drawings, observations, or interviews.
